After I completed a painting residency through The Golden Foundation in New Berlin, NY, I took two weeks to drive home through New York, Maine, Quebec, and Ontario. I was absolutely taken by the countless barns, many in stages of disrepair, that speckled the New England and Canadian landscape. In this painting, I bring attention to the variegated beauty of the weathered, painted wood and how it interacts with the soft, rolling hills. The sky features a vintage, Italian planetary map.
